Belvoir Bountiful | Mixed Berry & Rhubarb Jam
This is our version of a great traditional British jam. If you lived in the countryside in years gone past, you'd have been sent by your parents to scour the hedgerows for the ingredients to this robust berry flavoured jam.
Belvoir bountiful pays homage to the abundance of fruit that is grown in the area surrounding Belvoir Castle estate the seat of the Manners family and the 11th Duke of Rutland. His ancestral family came over in the Norman conquest, legend has it that Robert de Todeni the first Baron of the area stood on the castle mound pronouncing it a Belvoir which means beautiful view. A Norman import by the French-speaking invaders, but the native Anglo-Saxon population was unable to pronounce such a foreign word, preferring to call it "Beaver" a usage which persists today. This jam combines a beautiful view with a splendid taste, enjoy.
